Episode 1 –

Balancing business and motherhood can feel like an impossible puzzle. Between diaper changes, client calls, and trying to squeeze in sleep, many mom entrepreneurs find themselves asking: How do I make time for it all?

In this episode of Biz-Mom Life, I’m sharing my unexpected journey from psychiatrist to time management coach for mom entrepreneurs. What started in late-night hospital shifts and emergency room decisions eventually led to creating a crisis-tested time system that helps ambitious moms grow thriving businesses without burning out.

If you’ve ever wondered how to find time for your dreams while raising kids, this story will show you that you don’t need to follow traditional productivity hacks—you need a system that actually works for mom life.

What You’ll Learn in This Episode

  • Encouragement for mom entrepreneurs — proof that your messy, real-life challenges can become your greatest strengths.
  • Why traditional productivity advice fails moms — and the mindset shift that makes time management doable.
  • How my psychiatry background shaped my coaching — surprising lessons from crisis care that apply to running a business with kids.
  • The secret to building flexible systems — ones that help you grow your business and be present for bedtime stories.

Why This Episode Matters for Mom Entrepreneurs

If you’re overwhelmed by the mental load of motherhood while also trying to grow a business, you’re not alone. Many productivity strategies out there are designed for people without kids—or at least without the constant unpredictability that comes with raising them.

That’s why I created a time management approach that’s not about squeezing more into your day—it’s about building systems that work with your reality, not against it. This episode gives you an inside look at how I discovered this method and why it can work for you too.

Welcome to the first episode. I am so, so thrilled you’re here. You might be wondering, like, who I am, who this podcast is for, and what inspired this podcast. So let me share a little bit with you. So you’re building a business, raising a family, and trying to juggle it all. Oh my gosh, does that sound familiar? I’ve been there. And here’s the thing. That typical time management strategy does not cut it for moms like us. You know that feeling like you’re pulled in multiple directions, the overwhelm of wearing so many hats, and just the guilt that creeps in no matter what task you’re focused on?

Dr. Celia
00:34 – 01:07
It is so, so exhausting. Between the constant decision-making, the mental load, and just trying to grow your business, something had to give. So for me, it all started when I became a mom and my life changed drastically. Can anyone relate to this? Like, I was a first-time mom, and trying to run my new business and do all the things, and it was a lot. I was under the impression being a mom would be super easy, that the baby always slept and ate, and it wouldn’t be so hard, and I was like, wow, I was totally wrong on that, because it was nothing like that.

Dr. Celia
01:08 – 01:57
And on top of that, I had the idea of starting my business at that time, and basically I had two babies at the same time, one my business and one my actual baby. So I was not handling it well. I was a hot mess I was just trying to figure out how to make the most progress my new business With the limited time that I have and try to take care of my son So I did what anyone else would do in the situation. I googled all the things and I The results came up with have boundaries try not to spend too much on one task and all the search engines they just did not feel like they applied to me and what I was personally going through and the one thing I did not like about the research results is that it was just so generic like None of it really applied to my unique situation as a new mom and a new business owner.

Dr. Celia
01:58 – 02:33
So I was reflecting on like what can I do to get my life in a better way with like my business and my baby and how do I adapt to two brand new things and I was just like thinking about like the skills that I learned as a psychiatrist and one thing really stuck out was like one day in the hospital I had patients waiting in the psych unit. I had an ER crisis unfolding and medical consults waiting for me. And during that time period, I had no choice but to quickly prioritize and make decisions on the fly, especially being the only psychiatrist in the hospital.

Dr. Celia
02:34 – 03:01
And as I was reflecting on that, I realized, oh, my gosh, that’s what I could do here. This is that skill set that what I learned in residency, what I learned as being a doctor, that’s what I could bring into my new Life right now in terms of like how do I adapt to being a new mom? How do I adapt to be having new business and how do I adapt to doing it at the same time? And that skill set, it turns out that’s exactly what I needed when I became a mom and business owner.

Dr. Celia
03:02 – 03:28
So taking all my past experiences and all that I knew, I created my own system so I could start to figure out what takes priority in my business, how to get that done in the small pockets of time that I have, and in a way that I still feel good and peaceful about it and that does not lead me to burnout. So I was able to stitch the feeling of being pulled in different directions instead of overwhelmed and instead start to actually move the needle in my business while being a mom to my baby who’s now a very very busy toddler.

Dr. Celia
03:30 – 04:06
So as I got further in my business, I realized this is not common knowledge for mom business owners. We hear the typical time management strategies, but not how it works in real life. So I created this podcast to help ambitious mom business owners who are actively growing their business, because you deserve time management strategies that work for your real life, not against it. I’ll bring you practical time management strategies backed by psychology that actually works for your mom busy life without adding more to your plate. So if you’re ready to stop being pulled in a million directions and finally make real progress in your business, hit that subscribe button so you do not miss a single episode.
