Sweet! Tell me more about the torchbearer!

You’re a warm, engaging woman whose presence is known when you walk into a room.   People see the light shining within you and can’t help wanting to be around you.

As a mom, you are connected to your kids and desire a good relationship with them.  You have a big heart and want your kids to feel comfortable sharing with you.

Others around you marvel at how great you are in connecting with others — especially when it comes to interacting in small groups and different church activities.

You have the ability to mesmerize those around you with your skills as a story-teller. Kids love when you read to them in the church nursery!  You often hear, “Can you read another one please?” once you finish reading.

You are a triple threat in that you are good at what you do as a business owner, can do social content well, and are better at sales than most.

As an entrepreneur, you are willing to financially invest in your business if it will quickly help you with your goal.

But because we are human and flawed, there may be aspects you don’t notice that are holding you back. Things like:

The truth is, the ups and downs of entrepreneurship can be exhausting (especially if you’re a mom).

And because of this, you might be

Up and Down of Entrepreneurship and Motherhood

Well, I GET IT because I’ve been there.

I was the sleep-deprived mom who lost track of days and missed appointments.

I was the frazzled business owner who didn’t want to lose the momentum I was having with clients.

“If I put in the hours, it will pay off,” I thought.

News flash: it didn’t.

Instead, I constantly felt guilty about working and not spending time with my son. I was exhausted and felt like a failure in all areas of my life.

(The mompreneur struggle is real.)

But it doesn’t have to be like this…

Here are the Top 3 Mistakes I See
Female Christian Entrepreneurs Making
(and what to do instead)

Mistake #1

Gold Arrow - Left

Striving For Perfection

You’re pushing yourself to make everything happen, and you’re not satisfied until all tasks are checked off your list.

You hold yourself to high standards in both business and family life. You get so caught up in being Martha that you forget to strive to be like Mary.

Luke 10:38-42 (ESV) – At the Home of Martha and Mary

38 As Jesus and his disciples were on their way; he came to a village where a woman named Martha opened her home to him. 39 She had a sister called Mary, who sat at the Lord’s feet listening to what he said. 40 But Martha was distracted by all the preparations that had to be made. She came to him and asked, “Lord, don’t you care that my sister has left me to do the work by myself? Tell her to help me!”

41 “Martha, Martha,” the Lord answered, “you are worried and upset about many things, 42 but few things are needed—or indeed only one.[a] Mary has chosen what is better, and it will not be taken away from her.”

Here’s what to try: Give yourself God’s gift of love and grace. You’re doing the best you can. Remember, God knows your needs and will take care of you. Trust him and lean on him. He never asked you to be perfect.

Mistake #2

Beating Yourself Up

What does your internal dialogue look like?

If you forgot to send your weekly email or forgot to send lunch one day with your kid, do you belittle yourself with negative thoughts: “I can’t believe I forgot to make lunch for my own kid! I’m such a bad mom. What will the other parents think?!”

Sound familiar?

Here’s what to do instead: Encourage yourself the way you’d encourage others. And when that internal critic pipes up, challenge what it says!

Mistake #3

Gold Arrow - Left

Pushing Yourself Too Hard

Are you trying to do everything? (It’s a mom thing!)

How often do you wake up thinking of the tasks you need to accomplish today? How often is your chest tight with anxiety because you’re worried about how you’re going to get it all done?

If you’re spending all your time working either in your business or on household tasks and leaving no free time for yourself, you will feel out of balance.

Here’s what to try instead:  Recognize your limits and pay attention to your body. Identify one or two key tasks to accomplish each day and once those are done, spend that free time doing something YOU love – even if it means the kids are playing there beside you.

God encourages us to rest and practice the Sabbath. We need to pay attention to that part of our lives too. (God himself – he rested as well!)

Grace means that all of your mistakes now serve a purpose instead of serving shame.

Now that you’ve got some new skills to apply to your life, let’s look at how you can create a successful online business and still feel like you’re a good mom.

Here are 3 things you need to make this happen:

CLARITY

You need to get clear on your own expectations.

How do YOU want to show up in motherhood and entrepreneurship?

Knowing your priorities helps bring balance (or whatever version of “balance” is possible being a mom).

When Christ is at the center, he becomes the great equalizer in your life.

CONFIDENCE

Trust God’s plan for you even when things don’t go quite right.

Faith, hope, and trust go a long way. His plan is always for us to lean on him and believe in his plan. God has a better plan for us than we can imagine. You are in good hands.

When you remember this, it can help you banish negative self-talk so that you can ditch the “mom guilt” for good.

CONVICTION

Your body, mind, and spirit will let you know when it is functioning well or feeling fatigued.  Listen to your body, mind and spirit when they are asking for rest.

Self care as a mom and entrepreneur is under-utilized but one of the most important skills to have. If you are functioning well, it will show in other areas of your life.

Don't forget to take care of YOU.

"Working with Celia helped me realize what was standing in the way of my dreams."

“I was unsure of what to expect when we began our sessions, but we quickly developed a comfortable and relaxed conversation. I remember in one session, Celia repeatedly asked me, “why?” as we kept pushing deeper into my reasoning.

This continued until I realized I was the one standing in the way of my dreams. I wasn’t aware that just a few simple questions could help me get to the root of why I was really doing the things I was doing. She has helped me explore the root causes and change them so I can succeed.”

You won’t regret signing up with Celia for coaching!”
