00:01 – 00:32
You know that feeling that you’re doing all the things, checking off your to-do list, showing up consistently, and following expert advice, but somehow you’re not seeing the results that you expected? Like last week, when you batch created content, sent out that newsletter, showed up on social, but your engagement actually dropped. Or when you carefully planned your work hours around nap time, followed your schedule perfectly, but still felt like you barely moved the needle. Welcome to week three of the emotion behind your schedule and the motion we’re gonna be discussing today is frustration I’m your host.
Dr. Celia
00:32 – 01:03
Dr. Celia, and we’re gonna be talking about something I see happen with so many ambitious mom entrepreneurs that deep frustration when your efforts don’t match your outcomes Like you’re doing everything right, but it still feels wrong and let me tell you I’ve been there Actually, let me tell you about the week that I thought I was gonna lose my mind over the exact thing. I I was just sitting in my closet office last month doing my weekly review. Everything looked good on paper, like I emailed consistently, showed up for my community, delivered amazing work for my clients.
Dr. Celia
01:03 – 01:21
But when I looked at my actual progress towards my bigger goals, I felt that familiar knot in my stomach. Despite all my perfect execution, my business growth felt stuck. And you know what made it worse? Watching other business owners seemingly leap forward while I felt like I was still running in place.
Dr. Celia
01:21 – 01:36
And due to it, to be honest, I might have ended up stress eating and finishing off that cake in the fridge. But you know what? This is when I realized that frustration shows up differently for different types of mom entrepreneurs. And you might recognize yourself in one of these.
Dr. Celia
01:37 – 01:50
You might be the mom business owner where you got your SOPs, your workflows, your automation tools. Everything is running like clockwork. But instead of feeling the flow, you feel trapped in your own systems. And you’re thinking, I optimize everything, but why is it that it’s not working?
Dr. Celia
01:51 – 02:16
Or you might be like the mom business owner that shows up to create valuable content, engage with your audience, but the growth is not matching your effort. Like each post feels like it’s like shouting to the void and you’re wondering if like anyone’s even listening. Or maybe this is you. Like maybe you’re like delivering amazing results for your clients, working every available moment during nap times and after bedtime, but despite working all the hours, you’re not seeing the financial growth that you expected.
Dr. Celia
02:16 – 02:40
Like you’re stuck in this time for money trap thinking something has to give. Or maybe this sounds like you. You studied all the strategies, you followed every expert’s advice, you implemented all the must-do steps, but your launches are not hitting the numbers you projected. Each time you think, maybe, maybe, maybe this will be the launch that does it for me and I can bring in the income that I really want.
Dr. Celia
02:40 – 02:59
But then at the end of the launch, the results end up having you questioning everything about what you’re doing in your business. Here’s what all these patterns have in common. Like you’re doing the work, you’re showing up, you’re implementing, but something feels off. And that disconnect between your effort and your outcome is not just frustrating, it’s exhausting.
Dr. Celia
03:01 – 03:12
But here’s what I want you to hear. This frustration isn’t a sign that you’re doing it wrong, it’s actually a really important signal. So what’s happening here? Why do we feel stuck just by doing all the right things?
Dr. Celia
03:13 – 03:33
Here’s what I discovered, and it hit me like a ton of bricks while I was staring at the empty cake plate. When we hit this wall of frustration, something fascinating happens in our brain. It’s like an internal alarm system goes off, like the stress hormones start to flutter system, our heart rate kicks up, our body literally prepares for battle. That might explain why the guy damaged that cake, by the way.
Dr. Celia
03:33 – 03:53
Just saying. Our brain is like desperately trying to help us feel better, like releasing feel-good chemicals to counter the stress, trying to motivate us to climb through. But it’s literally working overtime to get us back to feeling calm and in control. But here’s the thing, when our brain is doing its best to protect us, it often leads us to push harder at the wrong things.
Dr. Celia
03:54 – 04:12
Think about it like this. We’re caught in what I call the productivity pretzel. We’re testing ourselves into knots doing all the things we think we should be doing, like posting three times a day because that’s what the social media expert tells us, or writing long newsletters because that’s what the email guru recommends, or even creating multiple offers because that’s what our business coach tells us.
Dr. Celia
04:14 – 04:54
Here’s the thing and this is what I learned the hard way like being busy with the best practices is not the same as being strategic with your own best steps. I’m going to repeat that like being busy with the best practices is not the same as being strategic with your own best next steps and let me break this down like When we’re in a frustrated space, we’re usually dealing with one of three misalignments. The first one is that we’re measuring wrong things. We’re tracking hours worked instead of the results delivered, counting how many discoveries calls we booked instead of the actual client conversions, or obsessing over our email list size instead of engagement rates.
Dr. Celia
04:55 – 05:22
Anyone guilty as charged? Second, we’re also following someone else’s roadmap without considering our own unique context. Like maybe that strategy that worked for the business coach with like grown kids and a full team is not exactly suited for moms who are working between like school drop-off and pick-ups and who also has like a baby on their hip. And third, and this is a really big one, we often push ourselves harder instead of pausing to reassess.
Dr. Celia
05:23 – 05:37
Our brain’s natural response is to do more to feel better, but sometimes that just digs us deeper into what’s not working. And the real kicker is like this frustration you’re feeling. It’s not just an emotion. It’s your body and brain telling you that something needs to adjust.
Dr. Celia
05:37 – 05:51
It’s not a sign of failure. It’s actually a sophisticated internal GPS signaling for realignment. So what do we do with all this information? Like how do we shift from frantically doing all the things to actually moving our business forward?
Dr. Celia
05:51 – 06:04
First, we need to understand something important. Your frustration is not the enemy. Remember how I mentioned how your brain is like working overtime trying to protect you and motivate you? Well, let’s use this energy to spotlight instead of a stress point.
Dr. Celia
06:05 – 06:17
And here’s the mindset shift that changed everything for me. Frustration is not a sign that you’re failing. It’s a sign that you’re growing beyond your current systems and strategies. I’m going to let that sink in for a moment.
Dr. Celia
06:19 – 06:29
Think about it like when your kids outgrow their clothes. The discomfort isn’t because they’re doing something wrong, it’s because they’re growing. Your business frustration? Same thing.
Dr. Celia
06:29 – 06:54
It’s not a bug in your system, it’s a feature of your growth. And this shift completely transformed how we respond to that knot in our stomach when things are not working. I want you to consider using these bridge thoughts and bridge thoughts are thoughts that may not be totally like out of the realm of like what you believe but thoughts that you may consider that like yeah I can consider that that may be true and that may help me in reframing how I’m thinking.
Dr. Celia
06:55 – 07:28
For example, instead of thinking I must be doing something wrong try I must be ready for something different. and here’s another example instead of everyone else has this figured out thinking like I am figuring out what works best for my business and here’s a third one which you may use or you may not use whatever works for your situation instead of like I need to work harder consider the thought I need to work differently So let me walk through what this looks like in practice. And I call it the Reality Check Reset.
Dr. Celia
07:28 – 07:46
It’s basically a simple 3 step process that you can do right in your closet office if you have one. No fancy tools required. So like step 1 is that track your energy, not your actions. Instead of just listing what you’re doing, notice the activities that actually light you up and move your business forward.
Dr. Celia
07:46 – 08:04
Like when you feel energized by your work, your brain releases those feel-good chemicals naturally, like no cake required. Although cake is always welcome, I’m not gonna lie. Step two, look for that gap. When there’s a disconnect between your effort and your results, this isn’t about judgment, it’s about clarity.
Dr. Celia
08:04 – 08:20
When you remove the emotional charge and look at it objectively, like you see patterns emerge. and step three is make one strategic shift. And this is where most of us get stuck. Like we try to change everything at once and then we don’t know what’s actually working or not working.
Dr. Celia
08:21 – 08:38
Instead, choose one thing to adjust. Small shifts consistently apply, create massive change. The key here isn’t working harder, it’s working aligned. When you feel that frustration rising, when your brain is firing all the stress signals, treat it like your business GPS recalculating.
Dr. Celia
08:38 – 08:56
It’s not saying that you’re lost, it’s saying that let’s find a better route. So this is what I want you to remember when you’re sitting in your office or closet or car or even hiding in the bathroom when you need a moment of peace. That frustration you’re feeling, it’s not your enemy. It’s your internal GPS working overtime to get you back on track.
Dr. Celia
08:57 – 09:16
Your brain is literally designed to help you move through this. Like those stress signals, the urge to take action, they’re all part of your growth system. But the key is to use the information instead of letting it drive you into more of what’s not working. Remember, you’re not behind, you’re not doing it wrong, you’re just ready for the next level of growth.
Dr. Celia
09:16 – 09:48
So the next time you feel that familiar knot in your stomach while staring at the to-do list, or an empty cake plate, no judgement here, pause, take a breath, and ask yourself, what if this frustration is not a stop sign but a signal to shift? Because here’s the truth, like most successful businesses are not built on the hustle and perfect systems, they’re built on alignment between our actions and our vision. And sometimes that alignment requires us to get uncomfortable first. And if you’re nodding along thinking, okay, how do I do this to actually make this work with my crazy schedule?
