5 Life Lessons Learned as a coach for Entrepreneur Moms

February 8, 2024

Hey friend!  Today I’m going to share with you 5 things I wish I knew before I began my journey as a coach for entrepreneur moms.  Consider this an entrepreneur list. So, grab a cup of coffee, find a cozy spot, and continue to read down below!

#1 My timing of my business is different from anyone else in business.

When I first started out, I thought having a successful business would be a piece of cake. I thought it wouldn’t take much time and effort to get it to where I would like it to be. I was wrong on this one. Building a sustainable business takes time, patience, trial and error, and a lot of prayers. There is a reason why it is easy to start a business but many don’t make it past the 5-year mark. My personal mission as a coach for mom entrepreneurs is to see mom business owners make it past the 5-year mark.

#2 When things are not going the way I would like, there is a lesson to be learned or it is not where God wants me to be

This was a lesson learned. In my previous niche of helping women physicians have a side gig, there were no doors open for 9 months. Everything I tried did not work. I couldn’t grow my email list past 30 people. Collaborations were not happening. I prayed to God, but it did not pick up.

What I didn’t realize was that God wanted me to shift my focus to mom business owners. When I finally leaned into it, doors started opening, and God was providing for my business.

A lesson I learned in this journey was ‘Don’t tie your self-worth into your business’. How your business is performing is not indicative of who you are as a person and even as the CEO of your business.

You are made in God’s image, not God’s business image.

#3 God does answer heartfelt prayers in own way

During the period of my previous niche, there was a severe dry spell. I broke down and cried to God about my business. I asked for a sign. He provided two consultation calls scheduled when I finished praying. It was an unexpected prayer, and He provided what I needed at that moment.

#4 Learning how to financially manage your business is a skill needed early on

As you are marketing your business, you are constantly being marketed to. Entrepreneurs are motivated to buy courses and coaching programs telling you that all you need is their program to have a successful business. What helped get my business finances under control, which may help you, is learning where every dollar goes, what your budget for the year is, and how much you allocate into business education and other areas of your business. Also, remembering just because you said no to an offer that you don’t need right now can open doors to invest in offers that your business truly needs.

#5 Knowing how to coach yourself when doubt, discouragement and disbelief come up will help you move forward

How you think about your business is what will move it forward or keep it stuck. Having a business is like being a parent. Some days, it feels like you got it under control. Other days, you wonder what just happened. Learning how to process the doubt, discouragement, and disbelief is vital when it gets rough in your business. It is what keeps you going behind the scenes when it is a struggle to keep going.

(If you struggle with productivity mindset coaching yourself and want to work with a coach, contact me and I will reach out to you with next steps.)

So let’s recap:

  • #1 My timing of my business is different from anyone else in business.
  • #2 When things are not going the way I would like, there is a lesson to be learned or it is not where God wants me to be.
  • #3 God does answer heartfelt prayers in own way.
  • #4 Learning how to financially manage your business is a skill needed early on
  • #5 Knowing how to coach yourself when doubt, discouragement and disbelief come up will help you move forward.
